Balancing College & Motherhood: Tips for Young Moms Pursuing Their Dreams

Tips for Young Moms Pursuing Their Dreams

Being a student mom is a journey of resilience, determination, and sacrifice. Balancing classes, parenting, and personal goals isn’t easy, but it’s absolutely possible. Your dreams don’t have to be put on hold—you can succeed in both motherhood and education.

My Journey: From Setback to Success

During my time at Auburn University, I faced an unexpected challenge—I became pregnant and suffered a life-threatening blood clot, forcing me to leave school and move back home. I went from being independent to relying on my mother for support, a tough reality that nearly derailed my dreams. But I refused to give up.

Despite the obstacles, I returned to school and earned my degree while raising my son alone. Now, that same son is a freshman at LSU, a reminder that perseverance pays off.

Tips for Thriving as a Student Mom

  •  Get Organized: A well-planned schedule helps manage classes, parenting, and       personal time.
  •  Lean on Support: Whether it’s friends, family, or campus resources, don’t hesitate   to seek help. (Please don't hesitate to reach out to me "Your Favorite Goal Friend")
  • Take Advantage of Flexibility: Online classes and hybrid schedules can make a huge difference
  • Prioritize Self-Care: Even small moments for yourself help you recharge and stay    motivated.
  • Keep Pushing Forward: Every assignment completed and every class passed brings you one step closer to your goals. (Don't Give Up)
